World Piece

2024 GMTK GameJam: World Piece

In this Jam, I took on the roles of Designer and Storyteller. Inspired by the traditional Chinese toy, the Tangram, I designed a gameplay system where players adjust, resize, and reposition components to ensure the final pattern precisely matches the target. For the story, I aimed to provoke reflection on whether weapons should be developed by telling the story of a missile engineer who continuously creates missiles during a time of war, thereby conveying an anti-war message.

2024 Ludum Dare GameJam:
Summoning Enigma

In this Ludum Dare Game Jam, I took on the roles of designer and programmer. It was my first time serving as a Unity programmer in a Game Jam, so I initially felt quite overwhelmed. Fortunately, there was another programmer on our team, and with their help, we quickly got to work. In the end, they handled the level logic, while I was responsible for designing and programming the core synthesis system. I was genuinely thrilled with the final result because we had an excellent art team for this project, which led to a higher level of completion compared to previous Game Jams.

2024 Global Game Jam:
😆👻😆

This was my first time taking on multiple roles in a Game Jam, handling everything from design and art to sound and programming on my own. Based on the theme "Make Me Laugh," I designed a game inspired by Neighbours from Hell: players take on the role of a mischievous little ghost, causing pranks throughout a small town to make everyone laugh in this puzzle-solving game. To reduce the programming workload, I deliberately used Unreal Engine 5's Blueprint system. For the art, I used Blender, which helped me quickly build a decent-looking seaside town. As for sound, I recorded and created all the music and sound effects myself using Audacity and Bfxr. This Jam gave me a deeper understanding of the entire process of game development.

2023 CIGA Game Jam :
Don't touch me!

This was my first time participating in a Game Jam, and I took on the role of designer. The most important lesson I learned during this collaboration was to evaluate the feasibility of a project from the perspectives of other team members when designing a game. Initially, I wanted to create a clicker tower defense game inspired by Vampire Survivors, Cookie Clicker, and Pac-Man, but since the programmer had no experience working on similar projects, the idea was ultimately shelved. Additionally, I learned the importance of clearly communicating gameplay and system details, as well as aligning with others on specific aspects of the project. Otherwise, the final product might deviate significantly from the original design draft.
